Lately...

Sorry it has been a while since I last posted. It just seems so boring to post our mundane days and the fun ones are even hard to post without pictures. Anyway, since I last posted we have had our 20 week doctors appt. and found out we are having a BOY!!! We are both beyond excited! I have had a feeling it was a boy since day 1, but didn't want for Davis to get his hopes up so I had him convinced it was a girl and we had only picked out girl names. We have tried to think of boy names for a while now, but cannot come up with any that we just love. We have plenty of time though. Meanwhile, my stomach is growing daily and it still surprises me sometimes when I look down and see it poking out.
This weekend has been a pretty fun one. Yesterday (Saturda) we went to a town about 20 min. from where we are staying called Amburg. It was so cute and pretty to walk around. We are getting to see so much history, but you have to know what you are looking for because a lot of it is just built into the town itself. For instance there is a wall around the city of Amberg that has been there since before the 1400s and the knights walked across it going to the crusades. Parts of the wall are original and parts of it now has houses built into it. We walked the pedestrian area and looked at the shops and went into a really old church and admired all the architecture as we ate some really good ice cream! It was the prettiest day we have had here in Germany so far and it was so nice to walk around and enjoy it.
Today (Sunday) we woke up and went to the chapel here on post and then decided to go into the town of Vilseck that is just right outside the post gates. We had heard earlier in the week that they were having a carnival and we were interested in seeing what that was all about. It was a mixture between Mardi Gras and Halloween. Everyone was dressed in costumes and there was a parade. It was also basically just a big drunk fest for a lot of people...including the young people (meaning they couldn't have been more than 16-18). We heard that the kids do not have school tomorrow because of this festival. It is called the Fasching Festival and they ahve them in towns all over Germany. We had lots of fun observing everyone and watching the parade, even if we didn't really know what they were saying. We have heard there are a lot of these little "festivals" in Germany and we are looking forward to the next one. So, that has caught you up to speed on what has been going on.
Davis starts work this week, so that will be an adjustment. We do have a car now so it has been nice to be able to go explore on our own this weekend. I will try to be better about posting, but don't hold your breath :)
