We have been so busy since we got to Decatur. It has been so much fun seeing family and everyone getting to meet Grey. It is definitely bittersweet with Davis not being here to share in all the firsts though. Here are some pictures I have captured on my phone since we have been home.

2 months
I am a little late on this post considering Grey is now 2 months 1 week and a couple days old, but we still have not had our 2 month appt. (Gotta love socialized medicine). He has had his shots though and he did fabulously! They weighed him so I knew how much tylenol to give him and big boy is up to 12 1/2 lbs. He gained about 3 lbs since last month. He is eating and sleeping good, although he does have his "off" days and I of course think something is wrong. I have to remind myself that every day is not going to be the same. Luckily his nights are pretty much the same though. He goes down at around 7:30 or 8 and then I feed him one last time before I go to bed at 9:30 or 10 and he does not wake up until around 3 or 4. Then wakes for the day around 7:30. During the night I just feed him and he goes right back to sleep and never makes another sound...I am so thankful for that because it helps me go back to sleep.
He has gotten so much more aware of his surroundings lately. He is talking and smiling all the time. He will just lay in his bed and talk to the quilt on his wall when he wakes up from naps and when I put him on the boppy pillow next to me on the couch he talks to the candle sconces on the wall. It is the funniest thing. He just looks up and smiles at them and coos. He is such a happy baby and has such a good temperment.
My sister, Allison, gets here next Wednesday and I am sooooo excited! We are going to travel a little bit and then she is going to help me get Grey and all my stuff back to the states to stay for a few months. How blessed am I to have family that is so supportive and helpful?

ANOTHER Growth Spurt
Grey had another growth spurt this week. This time I recognized the signs. On Wednesday he slept a lot. I had to wake him up from naps to eat and that is not normal. Thursday he was a little restless and woke up from naps at about 45 minutes and wanted to eat a little bit longer at feeding time. By Friday he would not keep his hands from his mouth and would not sleep. He acted like the hungriest baby alive and his eyes were wide open ALL day. I surrendered to the swing and he spent most of the day there. He was happy, but ate about every 2 hours. This means I got nothing done. Today he is back on a little bit better schedule and sleeping again, Praise the Lord!
Another good thing is he is starting to enjoy his baths a little bit more. He usually is okay for the first couple minutes and then he decides he doesn't like it. Lately, we have made it through the whole bath with no crying. He kicks his legs in the water and his eyes are really wide the whole time like "Mom, what is going on here?"

With a face like that you can't be too frustrated when those growth spurts hit!

Time to Sew
Today was a good day! Grey had been having some nap troubles the past 2 days and I couldn't figure out why. He has been great at going to sleep on his own since day 1, but the past 2 days he has woken up after 45 min. to an hour and usually he sleeps almost 2 hours. After much "googling" I decided to put him down for his nap before he got fussy for it. That equates to him being awake for about 1 hour from the time he wakes up from one nap until the time he goes back down. It worked like a charm. He put himself to sleep and if he woke up during the nap he went right back to sleep instead of crying like he did the past 2 days.
All that good sleeping he did today allowed me to finish some sewing I have been working on. I have not been able to find Grey any cute outfits over here. I have found plenty of cute knit Carter's outfits, but those get old. My sister Amelia sent me some fabric from BBTN, where she works. Here are 2 of the things I finished. I am still working on a john-john, but I didn't have a good pattern so it might not turn out. We will see.
My lighting was really off in this pic...oops!
I experimented with putting elastic in the legs on one pair. I have not tried those on him yet. I am pretty pleased with how the others turned out considering I didn't have a pattern. I still have lots of fun fabric to experiment with and I can't wait.

Life is Good!
Today is a new day! I was determined to kick this growth spurt in the tail. So, we decided to start the day off in an optimistic manner and I thought this outfit was very fitting.
Last night he woke up 2 times instead of his usual 1 time, but this morning has been much more predictable and I think he has gotten back on his normal 3 hour schedule. He is eating and napping much better today as evidence by the picture below.
So, we survived the 1st growth spurt and today "life is good!"

I HATE GROWTH SPURTS
Grey is 7 weeks now. I cannot believe how quickly he is growing. He has been on a wonderful schedule of eating every 3 hours and sleeping for a 6 hour stretch at night. Everything was predictable and breastfeeding was going wonderfully. Well, then came this growth spurt. The last two days I have not been able to do ANYTHING except feed this boy. I am determined growth spurts are a major cause of women giving up on breast feeding. I feel like I am a slave to the couch (that is where I feed him). He has wanted to eat every hour for the past 2 days and he will just eat as long as I will let him. He then sleeps for about 30 min. and wakes up hungry AGAIN. Luckily, he did sleep for 3-4 hour stretches at night. I was really worried yesterday and thought I just didn't have enough milk for him, but google has answered all my questions. Apparently this is very normal and should only last for 2-3 days, but can last up to a week. I am praying for 2 days because that means today will be the last day of my slavery.
On another note, Grey has been smiling so much more these days. He used to just smile in the morning, but now he smiles almost anytime I talk and smile at him. It makes my slavery well worth it. I have to go now though because he is hungry AGAIN!!

P.S.
P.S. I just read my last post after I published it and realized I am a horrible writer. I never separate paragraphs and my thoughts kind of jump, but if I worried about the grammar stuff and worried about making my post perfect...I would NEVER blog. So please don't judge my writing skills...or lack of skills. Thanks!
